I wanted to share a picture of my dog Penny. A little back story to Penny.

She is a rescue from Mexico and she was found on a ranch in Mexico. When they found her she was covered in tics and her eye was so badly damaged that she needed surgery to have it removed. Additionally, she was kept in quarantine for 30 days as well.

She is a very timid creature. She meets strangers, but she is the most loving dog. She gives tons of licks and cuddles.

Sheffield always had a smile on her face which was genuine…she loved people and the outdoors…especially snow and water… She was a great hugger and a gentle soul.

When Benny was 11 months old, he was surrendered for euthanasia due to a hip dislocation. Luckily the veterinarian opted to do the surgery to save his leg, and Ben was fostered until he was ready for a new home. Lucky for me, too. This little monster is the happiest, friendliest, always ready to go, and best partner in crime I’d been looking for. Here we are five years later, and I’m so glad he’s part of my life.

This is Barolo, our not-so-miniature adventure wiener whose boundless energy and tenacity never cease to amaze us. His favourite summer activities include chasing squirrels, hiking, and riding shotgun in canoes. But he can also be a Netflix and chill kind of dog (while mom and dad sip their favourite kind of wine, Barolo!)

This is Elliott, he’s a five year old beagle and is the first dog I’ve had on my own. We’ve been together since he was three months old. He had a family before me who decided he was too much work for them. He taught me unconditional love and how to slow down and be more patient. We enjoy long walks (and he enjoys smelling everything!) His nickname is “dogcow” because of his markings.

I said good-bye to my beautiful Bandit at year ago, on Mothers Day. He was my heart dog and although I don’t think I would have ever been ready to lose him I certainly was not in any way prepared to lose him 3-4 years earlier than expected to a brain tumour. Right up until the last couple of months he was a very happy and active boy. He was a true champion, both in love and in sports. He was a natural athlete who was well known and accomplished in the world of dog sports but most importantly he was my best friend. He was a loyal, loving and joyful companion who was with me through thick and thin. He loved to explore, was up for any adventure I suggested and taught me to live in the moment. I’m forever grateful for his presence in my life, he literally is the best thing that ever happened to me. I am still struggling with his loss, I miss him so so much.

Luca is a 5-year-old Belgian Malinois X who hails from Dog Tales in King City. I don’t know a lot about her early years, but I do know that she spent more than half of her first three years in shelters in Israel and at sanctuary here. Luca suffered from serious fear aggression, and was, therefore, difficult to home. We met a couple of years ago, and became best friends. She remains quite reactive toward men, and dogs with a little too much spirit, but she is so much better than she was a couple of years ago. I suspect her fears will always be there, but we at least manage them; I think she enjoys her life. Once she is comfortable with someone, and takes them into her fold, a sweeter dog you will not find. May 20, 2018 will mark our 2nd Anniversary together.

Thought you might enjoy my puppet Zeus. He was taken off the streets in Greece. He was placed in a shelter he got lishmeana from sand fleas and was moved to foster for 1 year. Then I found him on pet finder. He was flown in from Athens Greece. I honestly cannot praise this wonderful bundle of pure joy enough! He came off an 8 hour plane ride wagging his tail and hasn’t stopped smiling. He makes us smile everyday. The joy he brings to us is immeasurable. His disability (tripod) doesn’t even slow him down. He is a perfect balance for our other mill rescue Lulu who is shy with strangers. He has even moved her towards people more than she ever has before. OK my gush is over.
